Consecutive Interpretation is the best-known form of interpretation. In consecutive interpretation, the speaker speaks whilst the interpreter takes notes. Consecutive interpretation is mostly used for technical, confidential or official meetings where it is not possible or appropriate to use <a href="http://www.interasceviri.com/Ceviri-kabinleri-ve-ekipmanlari">simultaneous interpretation equipment</a>, such as low-attendance roundtable meetings, diplomatic meetings, bilateral meetings, and short interviews. Consecutive interpretation is also preferred for face-to-face interaction in low-attendance training meetings where most of the participants do not speak the speaker's language.
In consecutive interpretation, the speaker pauses at short intervals -preferably at the end of each message- to allow the interpreter to translate what has been said based on his/her notes. If the speaker makes a long speech and the interpreter has to translate the whole speech, this will make it difficult for the interpreter to remember and translate everything, and cause the audience to miss out on the speaker's manner of presentation or gestures or cause those who know both languages to lose focus. This is why it is important for the speaker to be in coordination with the interpreter and provide the environment required for the interpreter to take notes (use of microphone stands, seating arrangement etc.) for the best translation quality. It should also be taken into account that consecutive interpretation doubles the duration of the meeting due to many pauses for translation.

Although it is carried out mostly on Zoom as the platform offers an additional interpretation feature, platforms such as Teams, Webex and Google Meets allow for remote simultaneous interpretation as well.&nbsp;

Audio of interpreters and speakers is provided in two different channels, allowing the audience to follow the meeting in the desired language. The only difference with this type of interpretation is that it eliminates the need for interpreter booths and simultaneous interpretation equipment, allowing the interpreter to translate remotely with the help of a headset microphone.
However, there are many rules that must be followed in remote simultaneous interpretation in order to avoid technical problems, maintain the flow of the meeting, and ensure quality performance. For instance, interpreters must connect to broadband via an Ethernet cable, work with a generator system in case of power outage, and translate with a microphone that is suitable for remote simultaneous interpretation and connected to a USB port. As the connection and sound quality of the speaker are the most important factors for the accuracy of remote simultaneous interpretation, organizers and speakers must make sure that all speakers use headsets instead of speaking directly to the computer.
Another crucial factor is the number of interpreters who will be carrying out remote simultaneous interpretation at the meeting. As translations with simultaneous interpretation equipment are made over digital audio with a computer instead of analog audio, which doubles the cognitive load for interpreters, there must be at least two interpreters present in meetings of 0-4 hours and at least three interpreters present in meetings of 4-6 hours, while meetings that will last longer must have teams working in rotations in case of any technical problems. Remote Simultaneous Interpretation

Whisper interpretation, also known as liaison interpretation, allows for the interpreter to simultaneously translate what is being said in small events to fewer participants by whispering. It can be considered a sub-type of simultaneous interpretation carried out without a booth or any equipment.
Whisper interpretation is preferred in place of simultaneous interpretation for short events, such as low-attendance company meetings, diplomatic meetings, one-on-one meetings, private tours and trips. This type of interpretation is used especially when accompanying senior government officials. The fact that the interpreter interacts directly with the participants during whisper interpretation may also serve as an advantage for certain meeting environments. This type of interpretation is ideal for low-attendance meetings in small spaces where it would not be feasible to set up a booth. Whisper interpretation will also be the best option for tours of outdoor spaces, factories and venues.&nbsp;&nbsp;
In whisper interpretation, the interpreter may also translate with a portable system called the <a href="https://interas-client.vercel.app/en/page/infoport-interpretation">Infoport tour guide system</a> depending on the meeting environment and attendance. With this system, the interpreter hears the speaker's voice directly from the environment without wearing a headset and translates into a handheld transmitter, allowing the audience to listen to the translation simultaneously with the provided receivers. This is the most reliable system for whisper interpretation, as it eliminates the need to stay close to the audience at all times and allows participants to listen to the translation wherever they are.
Since whisper interpretation requires carrying out simultaneous interpretation without the full equipment, it is more demanding for the interpreter. This is why the rules of duration in simultaneous interpretation apply to whisper interpretation as well. Accordingly, even if one person is being translated, meetings of over an hour must still be held with two interpreters present. It is still more feasible to use whisper interpretation in short meetings that do not last all day. Since the interpreter translates what he/she hears in the environment, whisper interpretation cannot be carried out in large halls or noisy environments where the speaker is far away from the interpreter.
